What is a privacy center?
A privacy center, sometimes called a trust center, is one public page where a company explains how it protects personal data. Instead of a policy buried in a footer, visitors find the policy, the list of vendors, the security practices and a way to exercise their rights in the same place.
It answers the questions customers and security reviewers ask in sales calls and questionnaires, and it makes your accountability visible: the GDPR expects you to be able to demonstrate how you comply.
How it works
- 1
Validate your documents
Your privacy policy, vendor list and, when relevant, your data processing agreement are written from your workspace and validated by you.
- 2
Choose what is public
Switch each document on or off and preview the page live, exactly as visitors will see it.
- 3
Publish
Pick your address and go live. Later edits stay private until you update the page.
What you get
Your name and your logo
The page carries your company name, logo and a short introduction, at your own subdomain.
Documents you choose
Only validated documents appear, each one switched on by you.
Your vendors, with their region
Visitors see the name, purpose and processing region of each vendor you list.
Security practices, when filled in
Practices such as MFA, backups and encryption are shown only if you answered them.
A request form
People send privacy requests straight from the page, and you receive them in your workspace.
Updates under your control
The public page is a saved snapshot. Your edits stay private until you choose to update it.
Why a public page helps with the GDPR
A privacy center is a transparency tool. It does not by itself make a company compliant.
- Article 12
- Information to people must be easily accessible. One page with a stable address is easier to find than a document linked from several places.
- Article 5(2)
- The accountability principle: you must be able to demonstrate compliance. A maintained page and a record of validated documents support that.
- Articles 13 and 14
- The privacy policy and the recipients of the data, which includes your vendors, belong in the information you give people.
Questions, answered.
What is the difference between a privacy policy and a privacy center?
The privacy policy is one document. The privacy center is the page around it: the policy and other documents you choose, your vendors, your practices and a request form, all at one address.
Can I preview the page before paying?
Yes. The preview is free and shows the page exactly as visitors would see it. You only pay to make it public.
What is public and what stays private?
Only the documents you validated and chose to show, plus the filtered company, vendor and practice information of the snapshot. Drafts and everything else in your workspace stay private.
What happens if I stop paying?
The page goes offline at the end of the period you paid for. Everything you entered stays in your workspace, and you can publish again later.
Can I use my own domain?
Your page lives at a privacyboard.io subdomain named after your company. Custom domains are not available yet.
How much does it cost?
Setting up and previewing are free. Publishing costs $29 per month, or $290 per year, per workspace.
