Privacyboard pricing: what is free, what is Pro and why it is per workspace
Privacyboard is free to set up: documents, registers, request tracking and the incident register cost nothing for one person. Pro costs $29 per month or $288 per year per workspace and adds the public privacy center, the cookie banner on up to 5 domains and teams. The price does not depend on visitors, vendors or the number of seats.
Privacy tools are often priced in ways that are hard to predict: per page view, per domain, per seat, per request. We chose a simpler model. You prepare everything for free, and you pay when you want to publish: one price per workspace, whatever your traffic or your number of vendors. Prices are in US dollars.
#What does Privacyboard cost?
| Free | Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $0, no time limit | $29 per month, or $288 per year (about $24 per month, saving $60 a year) |
| Billed | Never | Per workspace |
| Company profile and website import | Yes | Yes |
| Vendors and the vendor catalog | Yes | Yes |
| Processing register and its export | Yes | Yes |
| Privacy policy, vendor list and data processing agreement: draft, edit, validate, download | Yes | Yes |
| Privacy request tracking with legal deadlines | Yes | Yes |
| Incident register for personal data breaches | Yes | Yes |
| Private preview of your privacy center | Yes | Yes |
| Cookie banner: set up and preview | Yes | Yes |
| Public privacy center at your own address | No | Yes |
| Cookie banner live, with site scan and consent log | No | Yes, on up to 5 domains |
| Team members, roles, activity log and alerts | One member | Unlimited members |
The principle is that preparation is free and publication is paid. You can fill in your company, add your vendors, read your documents and see exactly how your privacy center and banner will look before paying anything.
#What is a workspace?
A workspace is one company or one website. It holds its own profile, vendors, documents, requests, privacy center and cookie banner. An account can create as many workspaces as it needs, and only the ones you publish are billed. Workspaces you keep private stay free.
This is also how an agency or a freelancer works: one workspace per client site, each with its own subscription if and when that client publishes.
#Why per workspace rather than per seat or per visitor?
Pricing follows what you use. We picked the unit that matches how privacy work is organised.
- Not per visitor. Your privacy obligations do not grow with your traffic, and a successful month should not trigger a surprise bill. The cookie banner's price is the same whether it serves a hundred or a million visits.
- Not per seat. Privacy is shared work: a founder, an adviser, sometimes an auditor who only needs to read. Pro includes as many team members as you want, with roles (owner, admin, editor, viewer).
- Not per vendor or per request. Your vendor list and your requests should be complete, not rationed.
Per workspace also keeps the bill honest for agencies: you pay for each client site that is live, not for a bundle you do not use.
#What happens if you cancel or a payment fails?
- After cancelling, you keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for.
- When Pro ends, the privacy center and the cookie banner go offline. Everything you entered stays in your workspace, and you can publish again later.
- If a payment fails, the app tells you and the payment provider retries for a few days. If it still fails, the workspace returns to Free.
You can switch between monthly and yearly, update your card, download invoices and cancel from the billing settings, with no email needed. Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy, our payment provider and reseller, and taxes such as VAT are calculated at checkout from your location.
#Who needs Pro?
Pro is for you if at least one of these is true:
- customers or partners should be able to read your privacy policy and vendors on a public page under your name,
- your website sets cookies or loads third-party scripts that need consent, and you want the banner to block them until the visitor chooses,
- more than one person works on privacy records,
- you want a consent log you can show.
Free is enough if you are preparing your documents, keeping an internal register, tracking requests from your inbox and recording incidents, and you publish your documents some other way.
#Does the free plan cover what the GDPR asks me to keep?
The free plan gives you the records, not the obligations themselves. For example, the processing register follows the structure of the record of processing activities in Article 30, the incident register supports the record of breaches in Article 33(5), and request tracking helps you meet the response deadline of Article 12(3). Whether your practices satisfy the law is a separate question that no software answers for you. See the GDPR checklist for what to have in place.
#How does this compare with other pricing models?
Privacy vendors use different units, and they matter more than the headline price. We compare them, with prices taken from vendors' own pages, in how much privacy software costs, and give a method for picking in how to choose privacy software.
#FAQ
#Is there a free trial of Pro?
Setting up and previewing are free, so you can prepare your documents and see your privacy center and cookie banner before you pay to publish them.
#Does the price change with my traffic or number of vendors?
No. The price depends only on the plan and the billing period, per workspace.
#Can I switch from monthly to yearly?
Yes, from the billing settings of your workspace. The yearly plan costs $288, about $24 per month.
#Do I need a separate subscription for each website?
Each workspace you want to publish has its own subscription. An account can hold many workspaces, and the private ones stay free.
