Consent log
What the cookie consent log records, how long it is kept, how to export it and why it contains no IP address.
The GDPR asks you to be able to demonstrate that a person consented (Article 7(1)). The consent log is that proof.
#What is recorded
Each time a visitor makes a choice, one row is saved:
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Date (UTC) | When the choice was made. |
| Visitor ID | A random identifier created by the banner. It is not linked to a name or an email. |
| Banner version | The version of your banner the visitor saw. |
| Version published | When that version went live. |
| Choice | Accept all, Reject all or Custom. |
| Preferences, Statistics, Marketing | The choice for each category. |
#What is not recorded
No IP address, no user agent and no personal identifier.
#Retention
Rows are kept for 13 months and then deleted automatically. This is long enough to cover the cookie's life and to answer a complaint, and short enough to limit what you hold.
#Statistics and export
The cookies page shows the last 30 days: total choices and how many accepted, rejected or customised. Export the log to PDF or Excel, and the cookie declaration too, for an audit or a customer request.
#Withdrawal
When a visitor changes their choice, a new row is recorded. The latest row is the current choice.
#FAQ
#Can I find a specific person in the log?
No, by design. The visitor ID is random. If a visitor gives you their ID, you can find their rows.
#Is the log available without Pro?
The log is part of the Pro plan, because it is recorded when the banner is published on your website.
#Where is the log stored?
In your workspace, in the same European database as the rest of your data.
