A service is a tool your website uses that sets cookies or contacts another website, such as an analytics tool, a chat widget or an advertising pixel. You declare your services and give each a category.

#What a service record holds

Name, category, purpose, cookies it sets (names) and how long they last. Well-known tools are recognised and their usual cookies and purposes are filled in for you.

#Where services come from

  • The scan. It lists the known services found on your page. See Site check.
  • By hand. Add services the scan cannot see, for example tools loaded by a tag manager.
  • The real-browser check and visitor reports. They show tools that actually ran, so you can declare what you missed.

#What the declaration drives

  • The banner shows the categories to visitors, with the services in each.
  • Blocking uses your declaration together with a built-in list of known trackers. A tool you declare as necessary keeps its cookies.
  • Your cookie policy and the cookie section of your privacy policy list the services.
  • Cookies of well-known tools are removed when their category is refused. See Blocking before consent.

#FAQ

#Which category should analytics tools use?

Statistics. Most analytics tools need consent. Some privacy-friendly tools that do not use cookies or identifiers may qualify as necessary, depending on regulator guidance, so check yours.

The banner's own choice cookie is kept for the period you set in the banner settings, from 1 to 13 months.

#Do I need to list fonts or CDNs?

List any service that sets cookies or sends visitor data to another website, including fonts and embedded media, and choose the category that fits.
