A privacy center is one public page under your company name where customers read your privacy policy, see which vendors handle their data and where, and send a privacy request. It answers the questions customers and security reviewers ask in sales calls, and it makes your accountability visible.

#Steps

  1. Validate your documents. Your privacy policy, vendor list and, when relevant, your data processing agreement are validated.
  2. Choose what is public. Switch each document on or off and preview the page live, exactly as visitors will see it. The preview is free.
  3. Publish. Pick your address and go live. Publishing needs the Pro plan.

#Your address

Your page lives at yourcompany.privacyboard.io. The address is 3 to 40 lowercase letters, digits and single hyphens and is unique across Privacyboard. Custom domains are not available yet.

#What visitors see

  • Your company name, logo and a short introduction.
  • The documents you chose, in their validated version.
  • Your vendors, with name, purpose and region.
  • Security practices, only if you answered them.
  • A request form to send a privacy request.

See What is public for what stays private.

#Updates

The public page is a saved snapshot. Your edits stay private until you choose to update the page, so a half-finished change never goes live.

#Why a public page helps

Article 12 asks for information that is easily accessible, and Article 5(2) for the ability to demonstrate accountability. A maintained page with a stable address supports both. A privacy center is a transparency tool: it does not by itself make a company compliant.

#FAQ

#What is the difference between a privacy policy and a privacy center?

The privacy policy is one document. The privacy center is the page around it: the policy and other documents you choose, your vendors, your practices and a request form, at one address.

#Can I use my own domain?

Not yet. Your page lives at a privacyboard.io subdomain named after your company.

#What happens if I stop paying?

The page goes offline at the end of the period you paid for. Everything you entered stays in your workspace and you can publish again later.

#Is the page visible to search engines?

Yes, published centers can be indexed by search engines.
