Install the banner

Add the Privacyboard cookie banner script to Webflow, Google Tag Manager, Shopify, WordPress or any site, and verify it is the first script on your pages.

The banner is a single script tag. Your workspace shows it with your own banner identifier, ready to copy:

<script src="https://privacyboard.io/cmp/your-banner-id.js"></script>

#Put it first

Place it as high as possible in the head of every page, before any analytics or marketing script. A tracker placed before the banner's own line cannot be held back, because it has already run.

#Webflow

  1. Open your project, then Site settings → Custom code.
  2. Paste the script in Head code. Put it first if other code is already there.
  3. Save, then publish the site to your domain.
  4. Reload your site: the banner appears once it is published.

Custom code needs a paid Webflow site plan.

#Google Tag Manager

  1. In your container, create a tag of type Custom HTML and paste the script.
  2. Set the trigger to Consent Initialization – All Pages, so the banner runs before your other tags.
  3. Submit and publish the container.

Tag Manager loads the banner after the page, so the "Read my page" scan cannot see it. The real-browser check can. Tags that fire before the banner cannot be held back: keep your Google tags in the same container so they follow Consent Mode.

#Shopify

  1. Go to Online Store → Themes, open the menu next to your live theme and choose Edit code.
  2. Open layout/theme.liquid.
  3. Paste the script right after the opening <head> tag and save.
  4. Check the storefront and the checkout pages you use: checkout may not allow custom scripts on every plan.

A theme change or update can remove the line. Check it again after switching themes.

#WordPress

  1. Easiest: install a plugin that inserts code in the site header, add a new snippet of type HTML and paste the script.
  2. Set the location to Site Wide Header and activate it.
  3. Or, with a child theme, paste the script right after <head> in header.php.
  4. Clear your cache plugin or CDN, then reload the site.

Optimisation plugins that delay or combine scripts can load the banner late. Exclude the Privacyboard script from them.

#Other sites

Any site that lets you edit the head works the same way: paste the line first in the head of every page.

#Let visitors reopen their choice

Add this link to your footer or privacy page so visitors can change their choice at any time:

<a href="#" data-pb-open>Cookie settings</a>

Alternatively switch on the floating Cookie settings button in the banner settings. See Banner appearance.

#Verify

Reload your site in a private window. The banner should appear. Then run the site check.

#FAQ

#Where exactly does the script go?

In the head of every page, before other scripts.

#Can I add it through a tag manager other than Google's?

Yes, as long as it runs before your other tags and on every page. A tag manager that loads after the page may let early tools run first.

#Will the banner work on a staging site?

It will show, but choices made on a domain you did not declare are not recorded in your log. Declare the staging domain if you want to test the log.
