Getting started
Connect an AI assistant (Claude, ChatGPT)
Ask Claude, ChatGPT or another AI assistant about your workspace, read-only: overdue requests, vendors, incidents, documents, assessments and consent rates.
The Privacyboard connector lets an AI assistant read one of your workspaces and answer questions about it. You can ask “which privacy requests are overdue?”, “which processors have no reviewed agreement?” or “do we have to notify the authority about this incident, and by when?”. The assistant gets the same answers as the app, computed for today.
Access is read-only, limited to the workspace you choose, and you can disconnect it at any time. The connector is part of the Pro and Business plans.
#What the assistant can read
| Tool | What it answers |
|---|---|
| Compliance status | What needs attention today: requests overdue or due soon, documents to validate, vendors to complete, incidents needing a decision, and the points an auditor would flag. |
| Privacy requests | Each request's reference, right, law, legal deadline and whether it is overdue. Long lists come in pages of 50. |
| One privacy request | The deadline, what the right means, the reply period under its law, the usual steps, and your own reply templates for where the request stands. |
| Vendors | Role, purpose, data, hosting region, processing agreement status, Data Privacy Framework certification and transfer assessment, and what is left to complete. |
| Processing register | For each activity: purpose, legal basis, data, people concerned, retention, tools and impact assessment status. |
| Incidents | Risk level, whether and by when to notify the authority, who to notify in each country, and what is decided. |
| Documents | Whether each document is validated and up to date, and the full validated text of one document. |
| Impact assessments | The DPIAs and transfer assessments needed and not done yet, those due for review, and each assessment's status, residual risk and conclusion. |
| Cookie banner | The declared services, and consent figures for 7, 30, 90 or 365 days: acceptance and rejection rates, by region and banner version, compared with the period before. |
#Ready-made requests
Assistants that show MCP prompts list four of them, often in a menu next to the message box:
| Prompt | What it does |
|---|---|
| What to do this week | The privacy tasks that matter this week, most urgent first. |
| Monthly compliance review | A one-page review to share with your team, ending with the next three actions. |
| Vendor audit | Processors without a reviewed agreement, transfers that need an assessment, missing details. |
| Handle a privacy request | For one reference: the deadline, the steps, and a reply drafted from your templates. |
#What the assistant never sees
When you ask for a reply to a request, the assistant starts from your own reply templates (set in Settings → Emails), filled with the request's dates. Parts in brackets are left for you to complete. You check the reply and send it from Privacyboard, where the request and its history are.
The assistant cannot change anything: it cannot edit a record, send an email, publish or delete.
#How to connect
- Open Settings → Connectors in your workspace and copy the connector address,
https://privacyboard.io/mcp. - In your AI assistant, add a custom connector (sometimes called a remote MCP server) and paste the address.
- Sign in to Privacyboard when asked, choose the workspace and select Allow read-only access.
The workspace must be on the Pro or Business plan. If you use two-step verification, you enter your code before approving.
#Disconnect an assistant
Settings → Connectors lists the assistants connected to the workspace, who connected them and when they were last used. Select Disconnect: the assistant stops reading the workspace at once.
Everyone sees the assistants they connected. Owners and admins see and can disconnect every connection in the workspace. A connection also ends when the person who made it leaves the workspace, and it pauses while the workspace is on Free.
Each use is recorded in Settings → Activity, one line per assistant and per day, for example “let Claude read privacy requests, vendors”.
#The public vendor catalog, without an account
Anyone can also connect https://privacyboard.io/mcp/vendors, with no sign-in. It answers questions such as “where is Stripe's data processing agreement?” or “where does Notion host data?” from the vendor catalog: the agreement link, the usual role, the hosting region with its source and date, Data Privacy Framework certification and how to declare the tool. Each answer links to the vendor's page.
#What to keep in mind
Answers are help with your compliance work, not legal advice. Deadlines are those Privacyboard computes; check them in the app before acting on an important decision.
#FAQ
#Is the connector included in every plan?
No. It is part of the Pro and Business plans. If the workspace returns to Free, connections pause until it is back on a paid plan.
#Can the assistant read the personal data of people who sent requests?
No. Their name, email address and message never leave Privacyboard. The assistant sees only the request reference, the right, the law, the dates and the status.
#Can the assistant change my workspace?
No. Every tool only reads. Nothing can be edited, sent, published or deleted through the connector.
#Which assistants work with it?
Any assistant that supports remote MCP connectors with sign-in, such as Claude and ChatGPT where custom connectors are available on your plan with them.
#How do I stop an assistant from reading my workspace?
Disconnect it in Settings → Connectors. You can also remove the connector in the assistant itself.
