Already have a privacy policy or a cookie policy, written by your lawyer or in place on your website? You can keep it. Your privacy center uses it instead of the Privacyboard draft, and you stay in charge of its content.

#Choose your own document

  1. Open Documents, then the privacy policy or the cookie policy.
  2. Choose Use my own document.
  3. Choose how to add it:
    • Link to my page: the address of the page on your website, starting with https://.
    • Paste the text: the full text. Lines in capitals become section headings in your center.
  4. Confirm that the document is up to date, then choose Use my document.

To go back to the generated draft, choose Use the Privacyboard draft. The draft must then be validated before it shows in your center.

#What visitors see

  • A link: the document card in your privacy center opens your page. The document's address in your center, and the link in your cookie banner, lead there too.
  • A text: your center shows it with the same layout as the other documents.

For your own privacy policy, the request form offers the rights of the laws that apply to you according to your company profile, as it would with the Privacyboard draft. Make sure your policy covers them.

#Keep it current

Privacyboard writes its drafts from your answers, so it notices when a change concerns your document, even when it cannot read your text:

  • After a change that would have updated the Privacyboard draft, such as a new vendor or a new cookie, a reminder asks you to check your document. Your document stays in your center meanwhile.
  • A year after your last confirmation, you are asked to check it again.
  • For a pasted text, the checklist before publishing lists the vendors, cookie services or contact address your text does not mention.

Check your document, update it on your side if needed, then choose Confirm my document.

#FAQ

#Can I use my own data processing agreement or vendor list?

Not yet. The vendor list stays up to date on its own from your vendors, which a separate document could not do.

#Does my own document appear in the evidence pack?

Yes. A pasted text is added as a PDF. A linked page is listed with its address and the date you last confirmed it.

#What happens if my page moves?

Your center keeps sending visitors to the old address. Update the address in Documents, then confirm your document.
